Two days covers the Centro, one rooftop sunset and one gallery afternoon. Three days is the comfortable number: it adds El Charco del Ingenio, the hot springs or a day trip without rushing.
Is San Miguel de Allende walkable?
Yes, but the cobblestones and hills are real. The Centro is flat enough around the Jardín and steep everywhere else. Taxis inside town cost about 60–90 MXN and are easy to find on the square.
What is the best time of year to visit?
October and November (Day of the Dead, San Miguel's feast day) and February to April have the best weather. May is hot and dry, and July to September brings afternoon rain that usually clears by evening.
Do you need a car in San Miguel de Allende?
