That combination means walk-ins are hit and miss on weekends — message ahead through its listing to check availability. It is the right stop for a couple, or for one good drink between Los Lobos and wherever the night ends.
After midnight — where the night actually ends
La Dama de las Camelias — Sopeña 32, Centro · 4.1★ (134 Google reviews) · Wed–Sat 10pm–4am. A famously eccentric room covered in paintings, mirrors and cabaret ephemera, where the dancing is danzón, salsa and cumbia rather than electronic. Nothing happens here before 11pm; by 1am it is full. It is the last stop of the classic Guanajuato night and the reason people talk about Sopeña — walk out at 3am and the street is still moving.
Practical notes for a night out
Cash: several bars are cash-only or cash-preferred, and the ATMs near the Jardín de la Unión run out on weekends. Take pesos out earlier in the day.
Shoes and stairs: you will cross cobblestones and stair-alleys between venues. Flat shoes with grip beat anything else, especially after rain.
Getting home: the centro is walkable but the callejones are dark and steep. Taxis wait at the Jardín de la Unión and Plaza de la Paz until very late; if you are staying uphill in San Javier, take one rather than walking down.
Timing: Wednesday to Saturday is when nearly everything is open. Sunday and Monday are quiet, and festival weeks — especially Cervantino — fill every bar in the centro, so go earlier than you planned.
