Things to do in Salvatierra, Guanajuato
Salvatierra was granted city status by royal decree in 1644, making it the first city in what is now Guanajuato state. Its protected historic core — a federal Zona de Monumentos Históricos — earned it Pueblo Mágico status in 2012: the stone Puente de Batanes over the Lerma, the Templo del Carmen, old textile mills and ex-haciendas in the surrounding valley.
